MOORHEAD, Minn. - Police here have released the name of a pedestrian struck and killed by a train last week in downtown Moorhead.

The Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the victim as Becky Lynn Bachmeier, 47, of Moorhead, police said.

Based on information gathered, police said the death does not appear to have been an accident and no foul play is suspected.

"We believe through some area video and police investigation, this was an act of self-harm," said Capt. Deric Swenson, a police spokesman.

The incident occurred Nov. 5 near the 14th Street and Main Avenue crossing.

Moorhead police, with cooperation from BNSF Railroad, have an ongoing investigation into the matter. It's been determined all rail safety equipment was working in the area at the time, police said.
