MOORHEAD, Minn.- This weekend friends are rallying around a local family that is all too familiar with 'the cancer fight.'
Cassie Kraft recently lost her brother to the disease and her mother also lost the battle to cancer.
But now the young mother of two is herself making that drive to the cancer center.
It doesn't take long before you realize 15-year-old Will and 7-year-old Jaxon are what keeps Cassie Kraft going.
"My boys, they are my everything," Cassie Kraft said.
They are standing beside their mom right now as she begins chemotherapy and treatment for breast cancer.
A lump she found in the spring.
"I felt something poking out but I let it go, because I had been elbowed," she said.
But Cassie is no stranger to 'this fight.'
She actually helped raise her brother Zach Kraft, after their young mother died of breast cancer.
And then many of you remember the power and positive attitude of Zach as he battled brain cancer.
His beloved dog, is now part of Cassie's family.
"Amazing. Awesome. I don't' know what we would do without him, he is our part of Zach," Cassie said about the dog.
Cassie found out she carries a gene that is responsible for the cancer that claimed her grandmother and mom. So after chemo, there will be aggressive surgery, a double mastectomy and removal of her ovaries.
"I am going to stay positive and kick cancer's butt, I really am and I have two angels watching over me. Amazing angels," she said.
Cassie says she is grateful to this community that has been here for her family throughout the cancer fights and now again for her.
"I have to move forward and I am going to be the one who beats this, I am going to be here forever for my boys," she said.
The two day benefit for Cassie will be held starting Friday, with a golf tournament at Moorhead's Village Green.
On Saturday there's also a huge event at Red River Lanes/Slammers Sports Bar in Fargo.
That includes a silent auction, dinner, bowling, a dunk tank and more.
